EMPLOYMENT

8/95-Present: SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, CARBONDALE, IL.
Associate Professor, tenure tract. I teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Digital Imaging, Desktop Design, Non-Silver Photo and Visual Communication.

9/92-8/95: ELMHURST COLLEGE, ELMHURST, IL.
Assistant Professor, tenure tract. I taught Design Studio, Visual Communication, Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Photography, and Desk-top publishing.

9/91-12/91: SCHOOL OF THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO, IL.
Taught Desk Top Publishing in the non-degree program during the fall semester.

9/89-6/92: MICHIGAN TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY, HOUGHTON, MI.
At MTU, Photography and Graphic Design are my specialties. I taught courses in Basic Photography, Commercial Photography, and Creative Photography. I also teach a basic Graphic Design course that is computer intensive, which gives the students a hands-on approach to the fundamentals of print design in conjunction with an understanding of the Macintosh computer and its graphic programs.

2/83-9/89: LOGAN PHOTOGRAPHY AND DESIGN STUDIOS, NYC.
As sole proprietor of Logan Photography and Design, my clients included McGraw-Hill, John Wiley & Sons, Edward Durrell Stone Architects, Robert T. Coles Architects, The National Urban League, Channels Magazine, Earl Graves Enterprises. Here in Chicago my clients include Harper Collins, and The Ashton-Drake Galleries. I continue to do freelance work and computer consultation for these firms using Quark Express, Aldus Freehand, and Adobe Photoshop software on the Macintosh.

10/78-2/83:EQUITABLE LIFE ASSURANCE SOCIETY, NY, NY.
As Senior Graphic Designer at Equitable, I met with clients to appraise projects, evaluate budgets, schedules, markets, and customer needs. I also designed annual reports, house organs, and promotional materials: brochures, mailing pieces, and posters. My responsibilities included managing an in-house freelance staff and coordinating printers, typographers, and other vendors. At Equitable I handled all phases of design.

9/77-10/79: JOHN WILEY & SONS, NY, NY.
At John Wiley & Sons, college textbooks were my major concern. As Designer, I maintained production schedules to produce texts on time. My design duties entailed creating cover and interior designs, checking pages and galleys, and tracking schedules.

7/76-9/77: BLACK ENTERPRISE MAGAZINE, NY, NY.
I was assistant Art Director at Black Enterprise. My major duties were to design layouts, monthly presentations, and supervise freelance staff.
